Lost Bayou Ramblers

New Orleans/Louisiana has so many great local musicians but one of my favorites is the cajun band, Lost Bayou Ramblers. If you ever get the chance to see them live, please do. I first discovered this band when I saw Beasts of the Southern Wild at an independent movie theater in New Hampshire. Last October, Allie told me Tulane was hosting an interview with the director and the artist who provided the main theme. The auditorium was packed and Allie and I got the last two seats available which happened to be in the front row. We were treated to a live performance of the song from the opening scene. We were hooked! They announced they were showing the film at the Saenger with an orchestra and the Lost Bayou Ramblers performing the soundtrack live and we had to be there. It was a really cool experience to see a film with a live performance of score. Ever since that night we have been trying and failing to see them live again. We finally got the opportunity when they were performing at the House of Blues on Saturday. Their next New Orleans show is Thursday, September 12th at Gasa Gasa and we hope to be there.
